About the author

I am a daughter of a parent who is experiencing depression.

I am graduate from University of Southern California’s Social Work Program, with a concentration in Mental Health and a sub-concentration in Systems of Recovery from Mental Illness. (Go Trojans!)

I am passionate about mental health and how mental illness impacts the family system.

As I begin to create my place within the social work profession and the field of mental health, I have noticed that a specific population is not being addressed or shown concern within the United States: children/adolescents of parents with a mental illness.

This blog’s foundation will be an integration of my personal experiences and the insights I developed in my graduate education, and thoughts as I enter my career. This blog will also provide the platform for me to share my voice regarding current mental health and social work topics that arise in the media.
